Virtual Technology Review

Virtual technology is a rapidly developing area of research for various applications and domains. VR is not without its limitations and challenges, which must be overcome in order to continue to develop and become more mature. VR is not accessible due to its price and associated hardware. There are also technical issues, such as the absence of a standardization.

VR offers a way to develop by experiencing situations that are risky or difficult in real life. For example, a fear of flight or exposure to a frightening situation. This is particularly beneficial in the field of mental health treatment such as PTSD. VR can assist patients to face these situations in a safe way.

VR is also able to enhance professional training by allowing athletes to train from any location in the world and without having to travel to a specific training facility. This can be particularly helpful in the development of perceptual-cognitive skills such as spatial or motor abilities.

There is still much work to be done in areas of theory and methodology and pedagogical approaches. Particularly there is a need to clarify the way in which the diverse features of both the technical and experiential aspects of VR affect learning outcomes in various professional training contexts. A systematic address literature review on this topic could assist in determining the optimal allocation of resources by identifying which VR features are crucial for different types skill training.
